Other than ear piercings, eyebrow piercing is among the more common facial piercings people get, and it includes all the area of the eyebrow from where the eyebrow starts in the middle of your face all the way to the side. Piercing pain can be sharp, but it lasts for a very short time, and in about a minute or less it's all over as far as the pain goes.
So while it's fine to use a numbing cream for your piercing, you have to measure the cost versus the temporary pain. If your good with pain, it's probably not needed, but each person has different pain tolerance levels, so you have to make that decision.

Like anything else, you should shop around at piercing shops before making a decision. Check out how they do their piercing, and of course the prices.
If there is only one option, check out other ones a little further away if you have to. Don't just to the easiest thing if it's not completely safe of satisfying to you.
Check out the piercers portfolio
Like others doing body modification or tattoos, piercers should have a portfolio you can check out before making a decision. Evan ask for names to see if they are really the people in the photos and what their experience was.
Especially check how the eyebrow piercings look. Do they look safe and healthy? Are they evenly spaced if there's more than one, or are they placed in a good spot.
If your friends have had any piercings, ask them about their experience as well, as that more than anything is the best and most honest source of information you could get.
Piercing aftercare
While you should follow the advice of your piercing professional, there are a few things to understand and be prepared for to help you during the process and understand what will happen afterwards.
Normally it takes from about six to eight weeks for a piercing to heal, so you can keep that in mind when deciding to get one. This time period can be extended if problems of infection set in.
Infections
Be aware that we are usually the source of infections, as continually touching where you are pierced is very tempting, and many people get infections from this very practice, so it's best not to allow yourself to touch it, other than at cleaning times.
Other than that, the best way to keep an infection from happening is to clean your piercing on a daily basis. Applying salted water to the piercing for a couple of minutes with a cotton ball is one of the recommended ways to do this.
What you're looking for here is that hardening or crusting to dissolve by the salt water. If that isn't accomplished, it can harden and connect to your jewelry, and then it'll cause painful inflammation from tearing inside. Once the crusting is dissolved, then slowly move your jewelry and make sure there is no hard residue remaining.
Salt water simply means regular salt dissolved in hot water or sea salt will work too.
After that is done be sure the dab your piercing with a tissue or toilet paper if it is wet, or if you've taken a shower, that is important as well to ensure that it's dry. Whatever you do don't rub the area, as it could irritate the piercing. You must be cautious of using towels because they can collect bacteria and it could cause problems.
Another way to protect from aggravating your piercing is to either sleep on your back or the opposite side of the piercing to protect from being damaged while sleeping. Also keep all your bedding fresh and clean to protect you from possible infections.
